What does chipotle taste like? Chipotles pepper are the very ripe version of the green jalapenos you see in your supermarket. After the green jalapeno peppers are picked and taken by the farmers to the market place, some are left to ripen on the vine. Red ripe jalapenos plucked from the field are then smoked until they dry.
