Great soup - ignore the name
I was a huge fan of Buckeye Beans & Herbs back in the 80s when they had a full product line including fun shaped pasta and more soups. Chicken ''N Thyme was the first one I had tried and I loved. My favorites were always Chicken ''N Thyme, Great Leapin'' Lentils, Beefed-Up Barley, and Barley Burgoo (which unfortunately Seattle Gourmet Foods isn''t producing - PLEASE RECONSIDER IF POSSIBLE!).
I was so upset when the line was sold off in 1997 and then completely discontinued as the company that bought it went bankrupt in 1999.
I stumbled across my 3 favorites, plus the Pea Soup (favorite of my Mom''s) in the Christmas Tree shop and was thrilled!
You can''t go wrong with these soups and I always have to make double batches when I make them.
This one always got an eyebrow raise from friends and family and folks didn''t think they would like it. They were always wrong and wanted more. I gave a box to a friend recently and they tried it with cubed beef (I always make it with ground beef) and they said it was fantastic.
It tastes a little like a chili but not quite. It is fantastic on a cold day when you need something a little hearty and spicey. Serve with the cornbread, rolls or a nice chunk of bread.
Purchased almost by error. When we made the soup everyone in the family slurped it down and asked for more. It is a very tasty soup and we will definitely be buying more.
We found this completely by accident and bought it on a whim. What a surprise it turned out to be! We cooked it this morning, following instructions precisely. Turned it off and let it rest in the pot until time to reheat for dinner. Superb!! The only change we made was to sprinkle each bowl with lime juice when serving.
We will look for this product again.
1st purchased in discount store locally, loved it and went back to get more, all gone, panic. Still had a box @ home and found their web site. I can now get whenever I want. All those that tasted loved it so I gave as gifts last year and will do again this year. It was so simple too.
