    About the name "Buckeye" Beans

Located on the quiet waters of the Little Spokane River, just a stone’s throw away from Spokane, Washington, the mill town of Buckeye was once a bustling community of three hundred residents. Lumber was cut from the surrounding pine and tamarack forests and milled at the Buckeye Lumber Company. Boxes made from first grade lumber were shipped from the Buckeye Box Factory to various parts of the United States via the Spokane Falls and Northern Railroads. Many local commercial apple growers shipped their fruit in Buckeye boxes. By 1912, the mill was closed and most of the townsfolk had moved on. The Buckeye Beans company was founded just downstream from this sleepy little town and was inspired to create genuine products that reflect the "simpler" way of life." Hearty soups on the back burner and beans baking in the oven provide a flavor of days gone by.

I agree with the first reviewer in that the sage seasoning was far too pronounced. Sage is a strong herb and can easily become overpowering. That being said, my son and my husband said they liked it. They didn't rush to finish it though and the rest went into the freezer. The Buckeye bean is my favorite so far...every body loves this. Also Vegetarian Bean rates high with everyone. I deleted one can of the tomato sauce and used organic low salt chicken stock in it's place. Also added chopped carrot, celery, garlic and more onion than the recipe on the box called for. Great product...look forward to trying others.

I had high expectations for the Turkey Soup. Thought the spice mix had too much sage and it was a bit overpowering taste wise. Also, too thick, more like a stew than a soup. I think you would have done better with less of the bean mix and less of the spice mix. My husband said it was ok, but he and my son in law polished off my regular turkey soup and left yours, so I threw it out. I wouldn't buy it again. My two favorite soups are the Chicken Thyme and the Veggie Bean. Haven't tried the chili yet.
